Anime NebrasKon is an annual three-day anime convention held throughout October at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The convention raised $2,600 for Large Brothers Huge Sisters during the 2012 charity public sale. The conventions charity events in 2022 benefited The Trevor Mission. Since the primary anime convention which brought in a few hundred people, anime conventions have exploded in popularity. For 2016, the convention moved to La Vista to be able to accommodate development. The convention usually provides an artist's alley, anime idol, anime music video contest, cosplay contests, cosplay masquerade, dance/rave, courting public sale, vendor's room, game room (video, tournaments, tabletop), formal ball, human chess, panels, and expertise exhibits. The sellers room was expanded in 2012 because of renovations at the Ramada. Wolf, Ian (22 December 2012). "Anime Limited Announce First Launch: Cowboy Bebop DVD & Blu-Ray". Despite some fansubbers declaring (as a result of fansubbing's illegality) that they'll cease distribution as soon as a sequence is licensed, many fansubbed versions of anime are produced because of the stiff localization process in official translations. Due to the convention's growth, in 2009 it moved to the Holiday Inn Omaha Convention Heart in Omaha, Nebraska, and added 24-hour programming.
