The decision to consider nominating the former presidential candidate as the gubernatorial candidate (cagub) for Jakarta came after PDIP DPP Chairman Said Abdullah met with the Chairman of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin, to discuss cooperation in the Jakarta Pilkada. Only one pair of independent candidates for governor and deputy governor of Jakarta submitted their support documents to the Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) by the deadline. This pair is Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana. The KPU DKI Jakarta officially closed the submission of support documents for prospective governor candidates on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at 11:59 PM WIB. "We announce that as of the deadline for submitting support documents for independent or individual candidates at 11:59 PM WIB, there is only one pair, namely Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana," said KPU DKI member Astri Megatari in Jakarta, as reported by Antara.
One proposal is to endorse Baswedan Anies in the upcoming election in November. Previously, PDIP DPP Chairman Said Abdullah revealed that he had visited Cak Imin's residence to discuss cooperation in the Jakarta Pilkada. Said mentioned that PKB is already set on nominating Anies Baswedan for the Jakarta gubernatorial election. "We went to the PKB Chairman's house, I remember it was after Friday prayers on May 30 before departing for Mecca. We had a heart-to-heart talk, as communication is definitely built among the elites, sharing views and perspectives," stated Said.
Syaikhu mentioned that some people have already referred to this pair by the acronym AMAN. "We believe the Anies Sohibul Iman pair, some have already called them AMAN. Whatever, it's up to you," continued Syaikhu.
Airlangga mentioned that his party has not yet decided whether to put forward the former Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, for the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. However, Golkar has already recommended Ridwan Kamil to participate in the Jakarta and West Java Pilkada. Golkar is still waiting for the survey results to determine Ridwan Kamil's candidacy. Airlangga also asked everyone to wait until August 27, 2024, to see who Golkar will nominate as their candidate for Jakarta governor. "We'll wait and see," said Airlangga Hartarto.
According to Syaikhu, Anies-Iman has the qualifications, compatibility, and complementary qualities needed to complete Jakarta's development. Syaikhu believes that Anies was successful as governor with various achievements in different development sectors, advancing the city, and making the residents happy. Meanwhile, Sohibul Iman is a technocrat and scholar who once served as rector at Paramadina University. Additionally, he has experience as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2013-2014 and served as the President of PKS from 2015-2020.
In addition to the Jakarta Pilkada, Puan admitted that she is also considering candidates for the East Java Pilkada. "We communicate all names and try to simulate all names because each region has its own differences and peculiarities. So all names need to be considered," she concluded.
