Anime NebrasKon is an annual three-day anime convention held throughout October on the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The convention raised $2,600 for Massive Brothers Large Sisters through the 2012 charity public sale. The conventions charity events in 2022 benefited The Trevor Challenge. Since the primary anime convention which brought in a number of hundred folks, anime conventions have exploded in reputation. For 2016, the convention moved to La Vista in an effort to accommodate growth. The convention usually provides an artist's alley, anime idol, anime music video contest, cosplay contests, cosplay masquerade, dance/rave, dating auction, supplier's room, sport room (video, tournaments, tabletop), formal ball, human chess, panels, and talent exhibits. In its original context, the time period otaku is derived from a Japanese term for another's house or household (お宅, otaku), which is also used as an honorific second-person pronoun.
