How To Stop Your Helmet Visor From Fogging? Riding Advice
Pinlock inserts have a higher upfront cost but offer long-lasting protection, providing better value over time. There are certain products offered for splashing and cleaning up the face shield. That said, Pinlock visors are rather effective, and you can fit them as easily as you would certainly exchange a visor. Most of them are approximately valued the like any type of typical substitute visor. Particularly when you ride in the evening or in cold weather, this problem will be more aggravated.

For me, I always go for a helmet that has a pinlock-ready visor. I am yet to find anything more effective than using a pinlock, especially in horrible wet weather. In my first project opinion, a pinlock insert is the best and most effective way to ensure your visor doesn’t steam up, but they do come with their problems. The chemical coating will wear off over time due to handling, cleaning or exposure to rain which is why you have to keep reapplying fairly regularly.

There are two holes at the either end of a pinlock ready visor, and into that goes an anti-fog insert. It has a silicon edge that presses up against the visor and creates a sealed chamber of air between the outer visor, and the anti-fog insert inside. This air insulates the anti-fog insert from the colder temperature, and therefore it doesn’t fog up when you blow out warmer air from your mouth. A pinlock visor works all the time and solves most of the problems of the other options. It is, however, a time-consuming affair to fit a pinlock visor with an anti-fog insert, so you can’t do it on-the-go. Some motorcycle helmets come with anti-fog visor inserts when you buy them.

But by keeping the insert away from the visor, it stays warmer, this diminishing the potential for fogging. Some helmet visors come with an anti-fog coating, but these coatings are rarely particularly effective, and normally wear out over time. But, in essence, the laws of physics mean that all helmets, dependent upon the conditions, can and will fog up. The Pinlock® anti-fog technology is based on two key principles to ensure fog-free vision.

To mount, simply secure the lens between the plastic pins on both sides of the major visor. The silicon edge creates a limited bond with the visor around the insert, avoiding the wetness from obtaining trapped between these 2 locations. Many modern motorcycle helmets have features that prevent fogging. Almost all of them use a chemical surfactant that helps break down the water tension concentration inside your helmet and visor. The anti-fog spray should be used every time you ride, especially if you’re riding in the rain. There is probably no easier way to keep fog off your motorcycle helmet visor than having a spray that does it for you.
